OUR STORY
Palliative Care 2017
Page 6
In August 2017, Don’s physician told us with love and compassion that we needed to see a palliative care physician. Don was clear about his wishes. He did not want to spend the rest of his life chasing “snake oil;” treatments full of unproven promises and wasting time with doctors. There would be no resuscitation, feeding tube, or even treatment for pneumonia. We put our affairs in order with a living trust.
The one concession he made to this disease was that he would donate his brain to the brain bank in the hopes that it would help find a cure after he was gone. We decided that we would live whatever life he had to the fullest and be grateful for each day. |
